Lieu Privé began with a mother and daughter, a trip overseas, and a feeling we couldn’t stop thinking about.
While travelling through Asia, Ari and Muskie were inspired by bars that felt intimate, thoughtful, and full of experience. Places where a drink was never just a drink, and the room itself became part of the night. When we returned to Melbourne, we wanted to create something different from the usual fast-paced bar scene. Something slower, more atmospheric, and more personal.
Hidden in Hawthorn East, Lieu Privé is a family-owned cocktail bar built from our love of storytelling, hosting, crafted drinks, and spaces that make people feel something the moment they walk in. Every room carries its own mood. Each space is designed for slow drinks, quiet corners, private conversations, and nights that feel a little removed from the outside world.
Here, cocktails are made to belong to the room and the food is designed to sit beside them, made for sharing, pairing, and keeping the conversation going.And now, with our back area opening, Lieu Privé has a space for every kind of night. From intimate cocktails and quiet corners to tap beers, music, movement, and something a little more playful out back.
